All-in-One Remote

Anyone try to replace the Hauppauge remote with an ALL-IN-ONE or equivielient ? If so, can the reciever process extra commands (beyond what the H - remote has in the way of keys ) through to the girder plugin ?

Yes I have. I bought the ProntoNEO (The cheaper version of the Pronto) and am in the process of programming it to use many more button codes than the silver remote lets you use just by learning. I'll post some stuff tonight from what I'm working on.

Cool! I was crossing my fingers! That would enable my remote-farm to shrink a little bit.

I guess a problem with the All-In-One type remotes is that they operate based on pre-programmed codes.

Here's what I can remember off-hand: The Hauppauge remote uses the RC5 protocol with a Device ID of 31. From there it just translates the Code portion of the signal to button names (In the [HCWPVR] section of the .ini) and then based on which application is topmost, translates the button names to actions. What I'm doing is simply translating the Codes 0-99 in [HCWPVR] as '0=CODE00', etc, and then having only a [Default] section translating CODE00={run(c:\progra~1\girder32\event.exe CODE00)}
The IR receiver should receive from many more than 100 codes, but I don't think I will have enough buttons to warrant that many codes. My plan is do all of my buttons association within the remote and girder.

phietman has created a plugin for girder that will directly receive events from the Hauppauge receiver, though it does do translations to the button names for the known buttons. Since I'm not going to be using the bundled remote, it means I have to do an additional layer of translation to get from my programmed button to the girder action I want to associate with it.

(will check tonight that my code is correct)
