DVB-S question

I understand it's beta... so I'm not thinking about NOW, but...

Is there any card that can be used to LEGALLY get my dish network signal directly off the switch? I'd really like to have a card that I can plug a smart-card into or some such and change channels directly on the card.

Other that the DVB... I really don't see anything that warrants being charged for an upgrade, but I don't begrudge sage the right to make a few bucks, so I'll either stick with 5... Or if this dvb-s thing pans out, I'll gladly pay for the upgrade.
