MVP stuttering with version 6

Is anyone else experiencing terrible stuttering with video playback on the mvp with version 6? We are not able to watch any of our recordings with the MVP.

However, if I use the Hauppauge software to watch videos, they play back wonderfully with no stutter whatsoever. So I'm pretty sure it's not a hardware issue. I would like to use the Sage software for the MVP though.

Any suggestions?

Are you running the SageTV service or the UI on your media server? If running the service, try disabling it and using the UI only. That fixed a lot of placeshifter/MVP issues for me.

How do you run the GUI without the service?

As soon as I start the GUI, it starts the service also....

Service mode is enabled/disbaled by running SageTVServiceControl.exe. (Starts on p. 14 in the v6 manual.)

Found it thanks.

Will this be as stable as far as recording is concerned compared to running it as a service? I mean, will it not shut down suddenly, stopping my recordings? I always found the services mode kind of looked after that - making sure something was running to do the recording.

No, it won't be as stable as a service, but there's a set of scripts located in this thread: http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...=checksage.vbs

that I (and presumably others) am using to restart the GUI if the machine reboots.

HTH,
Stu

Stutter

I too am seeing this stutter since installing the RC1 on my MVP's. It happens at what seems like random intervals, but usually at least once every couple minutes.. the video freezes but the sound continues... then the video speeds up to catch up to the sound...

Any Ideas?? Anybody else seeing the same thing?
