SageTV Trial about to expire

My free trial for SageTV is about to expire. Before dropping $79 on a product which is not fully functional (not to mention it is still beta). I am also using the HDHomeRun, which is a new product and may be the reason everything isn't functioning as it should be. The HDHomeRun is a network attached dual tuner. I have one of the tuners wired to an antenna for local OTA HD reception and the other to my cable system for QAM. SageTV (I tried the trial for v5 and when that expired, the v6 beta trial) cannot play any of the QAM channels with a logical channel number > 99. These are all of the unencrypted network HD or SD channels. The same channels are available as OTA channels. The SageTV program guide merges these into a single channel, which is nice. However, if the tuner is busy recording one of the OTA channels, it cannot simultaneously play any QAM>99 channels, but can play QAM<99. If I disable the OTA channels, I still cannot watch QAM>99.

Now, I don't know if this is a problem with the HDHomeRun or SageTV, but like I said, I hesitate to spend money unless I know it will work for me. I've left a bug report, but haven't received any response, so I don't know if any progress has been made.

It doesn't look like there is any way to extend the trial period even when you are running beta software, so I may go back to using the HDHomeRun with just VLC. But... I hate to lose recording functionality.

Search in the forum for the HDHomeRun thread. Many people have this functioning fine. Santa should bring mine for Christmas. But since you are a new user and trying to set up a product that in two weeks went from not working with any third party products to Sage being the first third party product to successfully work with it I am guessing it is a setup issue with either Sage or the HDHomeRun on your end. This is based on the number of people successfully running it with everyone's QAM stations being greater than 99. Version 5 is the stable production version with version 6 being just about released. Sage is a fully functional product.
