MVP blacks out TV screen when off?
Using a European Hauppauge MVP which has a SCART connection+ cable.
What's good about the SCART is of course image quality, but also the fact that it switches my TV to the correct EXT channel when I switch on the MVP. Great. However, when I turn off the MVP, it blacks out the screen of my TV? No matter what preset channel I choose, I can hear the sound but not see the image, until I disconnect the cable from the TV. I worked around it by using different connectors with tulip-cables, but I feel that image quality suffers from this. Anyone else experience this? Anyone know of a solution? I have searched through my TV menus to see whether this was some sort of option, but I can't find it. Thanks Last edited by Franc; 12-13-2006 at 06:34 AM. |

Yes, I noticed this last night when I connected it up to my portable TV.
I'm using the standard hauppauge software with it here as I lodge away in the week, and use it with Sage at home at weekends. I haven't tested if it does this with the Sage software though, but definately when I switched it off via the remote after using the hauppauge s/w. I didn't try it with the MVP physically powered off and connected via the scart, I just yanked the lead out in frustration.... Mine's a european one too. Last edited by doc; 12-13-2006 at 06:32 AM. |

I think I found the solution!
Checked out the SCART pin layout en found pin 16 called something like "blanking signal" so I clipped that wire on the connector and VOILA It still switches to the EXT when I turn on the MVP but when I turn it of, it doesn't blank my screen anymore. One problem solved (how many left to go?) |
