Looking at new purchase
I dont own a capture card, tv output card, or the Sage software.. but im interested in all of it very soon. As soon as I have one last thing cleared up.
I've been looking at the pvr-350 and i know the Sage 2.0 beta is supporting it now (as much as possible). My question is this. When using Sage, can I route the sound through my soundblaster live? I read earlier that, "You will not be able to play music through the audio outputs of the PVR350 or see the music visualizations through its video output (you can still play music through your sound card though)". I could care less about visualizations for audio, I just want to hear it.. In short. If I put a cable from my soundblaster to my reciever, and a cable from my pvr-350 to the tv, can I hear music and watch tv with sound? I picked up a cheap p3-866, a 160gb HD, and now I think I just need the pvr-350 and im good to go. thanks, these forums are a huge help. |

Yes, you can hear the music through the soundcard.

However, the sound may not be synchronized with the video. I know when I used the PVR-350 using the bundled software, the video would be delayed compared to what came out of the soundcard. I think you can adjust the sound output through Sage, but you'd have to figure out what values to use.

If you use the video out on the 350, you must also use the audio out on the 350 or the audio and video may not sync properly.
If you're using a home theater receiver, simply hook up the audio outputs from the 350 to one of your audio inputs (say Video 1 for example), and the output of the soundblaster to another audio input for MP3's, DVD's, and Window's sounds. Then switch the audio selection on your receiver depending on what you want to listen to as if it were any other piece of AV equipment. |

I wouldn't recommend the Phono input on your receiver. I have a 10-yr old Denon receiver and tried to use the Phono input and it doesn't work right with anything other than Phono. I had to use my Tape-2 input instead.

As Dan suggests, the phono input most likely will not work. Those inputs have a different impedance (at least I think that is the correct term...) and are meant to be used only with turntables.

I knew there was a technical reason, I just didn't know how to explain it

Now that you mention it, I do kind of remember having problems hooking up a device to "phono".. but, like you said, thats what tape inputs are for... or maybe the "DAT" input, I never owned one of those.
now if they would just ship my capture card... |
