Possible New User - Info

I'm probably going to switch from Snapstream to Sage as I'm fed up with their lack of tech support.

Might I inquire what you all think of Sage's?

Not the forum's, but if I need to submit a tech ticket, how good are they at responding?

Also does Sage support Divx as a recording option - not a conversion from mpg?

I have had no complaints with Sage's Tech support on responses to support tickets. I haven't had many problems, except for finding bugs in betas, but that is why betas are released.

IF your tuner card supports recording to Divx, then Sage does. AFAIK, there are only a couple cards that do, Plextor brand IIRC. However, on the fly encoding to divix isn't supposedly the best in regards to size and quality. I think since it is only 1-pass encoding, instead of 2-pass encoding.

Sage can recode your recorded mpg's to divx or even mp4 which will give you smaller files with better quality. Right now the stock user interface doesn't have automatic recoding of favorites, you need to manually trigger a recode. There are a couple customized UI's that add in automatic recoding, such as SageMC 6.3.0.

FWIW, I'd rank the official tech support from Sage at decent-to-good. I've only had one issue that I have had to contact them on, and it took a couple of days for the reply but the recommended solution worked perfectly the first time I tried it.

Really, this forum is where there is the biggest (and fastest) tech support is available. I 'might' have had other issues, but a quick post and an hour or two of time and almost always I've had the answers to problems from this incredible 'family' of users. It truly is the best I've ever seen.
