Rehash of the Disable Software Decoding
Last night I thought I would try disabling the software decoding on my system with a pvr 250, and 350. Much to my surprise, I was able to go even further than before. In 1.4.8 of sagetv, the system would lock up sage when I tried to change the channel. Now with version 1.4.10 I was able to change channels, to timeshifting, and everything for about a minute or two, then the system locked up again. I also discovered that it took sage down hard. I wasn't able to get it to see my capture cards, and when I did, It acted like it couldn't see both. I uninstalled sage, and removed the frey technologies directory to kill any residual settings, but no good still. I think I am gonna have to do a full hardware reset, and maybe seat the cards one at a time to get sage working right now, unless somebody know's some good techniques.
I guess my question is, Jeff, are you gonna look into or have you looked into making the no software decoder work? I know you probably have it working with, 2.0, but I am hoping to have it with 1.4.10. since I am at least a month away from having 2.0. Is there a dummy mpeg2 decoder somebody knows of or can write, which doesn't actually do any decoding and just makes the system happy? mikejaner
