WMVP won't even try to see APs
I have a new WMVP running 2.05 firmware.
When I power it up, it boots and then gives me a message saying "Enter wired test mode". The remote doesn't do anything at this time. Then the message changes to "RequestingDHCP" and there it stays. If I give it a wired connection, it will obtain an IP address and I can browse media files on teh server PC. I played one video and the screen blacked out when pressed the stop button on the remote, never to come back on. I haven't even dared to configure Sage v5 to use the wMVP when I can't even get it to see the wireless network (actually there are two). It seems to me that it has got itself into some weird test mode. Any ideas? Thanks! |

rungroj, did you ever get this resolved? I just got my WMVP and I am having the exact same issue. I've been looking through the forums for hours and your post is the only one that describes that problems I'm having.
Thanks! |

it sounds like the normal problems people have trying to use the wireless MVP with some routers. They see the SSID shown in the network config menu, but fail to get an IP address from the DHCP server. What router are you using?

Returned WMVP
I just returned my Wireless MVP. After several attempts and changes (a weekend's worth) I was able to get the wmvp to get an IP address. But I was never able to get past the "Loading Application" screen.
I'm running Sage V5 and from what I was able to find out V6 might be better but I'm not planning to upgrade so I just sent the box back. I'm just going to by a wired version and run some cable. Not what I wanted to do, but at least it will work. Rick... |

perhaps OBE if you've returned it, but if the cable run is hard, consider getting a wired MVP and connect it to a WiFi client bridge device. Or a wireless router configured as same. It "should" be transparent to the MVP.
You may need a cross-over ethernet cable (like 8 ft. long so you can elevate the bridge's antenna.) |
