HD playback shows breaks near the top

I noticed that my HD play back show these breaks at the top of the scence, maybe about 5in from the top. It's like a thin line that causes the image to shift on either side of the line. IT doesn't happen all the time, mostly when the playback image has a lot of movement in it.

I'm running 6.15, I have tried using Nvidia decoder and the sage decoder. I get it with both. Any thoughts

Sounds like tearing... are you using overlay, VRM9 and are you using FSE? I think this is common on VRM9 when not using FSE.

I have noticed the same thing. It does look like tearing. Very strange.

I am currently running an Nvidia 7600GS with purevideo decoders. It happens with both FSE on and off.

Funny thing, when I was running a much lower spec 9600XT with V5 in overlay mode this was not there. There were other issues but no tearing.

I can't accept that the 7600GS doesn't have the horsepower for VMR9 for playing 1080i HD.

It must be driver related.

To be honest, I wonder if something has happend in the beta regarding VMR9. I used to be able to play back HD content with it in V5 and now I must use overlay or it pauses every couple seconds. Normal SD content is unaffected.

So I'm betting something changed. I finally updated all my drivers to the new release versions to see if it fixed anything, and other than moving my settings to who knows where it changed nothing.

I filed a bug report, but I'm not sure anything will come of that.

There's been a few people reporting this; but no one has ever been able to reproduce it after going back to V5 (it's always turned out to be something else settings related or driver related that got changed). I'd love to have some solid data on that if it is in fact a real problem. (bug report is the way to get us that data)

I know in my case no drivers were updated because I didn't allow that, and the pc runs no other software.

It worked I think in the early version of 6 and I recently noticed it happening in .15. I'm not sure it happened in .14 or if it did it was so minor I never noticed it. Right now it's a MAJOR distraction and overlay is what I have to use to work around it. With overlay there are no problems anywhere.

Previous software for drivers and purevideo were quite old, the current ones are brand new just downloaded type of thing. The files are intact and fine, WMP plays them fine in fact. Sage won't.

To me that says something changed in Sage, but I don't know what and I haven't a clue how to tell.

What are the differences between VRM or overlay. Using 3Dsupport or FSE. What does all that mean anyways?
