You enable/disable channels on a per-tuner basis in sage. So for the HDHomeRun only enable the channels you can actually get (you'll have to remap them, as well - the guide linked to previously explains how).

I got it working by changing to a very similar (but slightly different) lineup.

But did the above change? I thought it used to be - all tuners using the same lineup shared the same enabled channels - it was set on a per-lineup, not per tuner basis.

If that changed - GREAT!

Does anyone happen to have the QAM channels available in Pottstown, PA area for Comcast? I'm getting an HDTV with a QAM tuner soon and i'd like to know if I need to order an HD STB or just use the Unencrypted channels instead.

Comcast Portland Oregon (Washington County)

I'm new to this forum and have discovered by accident that we receive various digital channels from Comcast. By that, I mean that we appear to be receving some "premium"-type channels, at least intermittently. I was aware that we got the local channel's HD feed. However, I've noticed that there are some odd things going on. I'm wondering if others have had similar experiences or if anyone has an explanation.

I was exploring the different channels the other night, in the 100+ range, going up one sub-channel at a time. I encountered various movie channels, some were playing recent movies, like "Flags of our Fathers", others had uncensored cursing. On 115.4, I appeared to be receving some kind of soft-core porn-type channel. On a couple of occasions, I saw the broadcast disappear on one or more of these channels. One time, the movie ended and there was nothing more on the channel. On another occasion, the channel stopped broadcasting mid-stream. I'm not complaining, and I'm not going to check with Comcast lest they remove something I'm getting free or attempt to charge me more. We have Comcast's "expanded basic" service. Anyone care to coment?

Hi yoterryh. What you are seeing here are on-demand channels. When someone selects an on-demand movie using their cable box, a QAM sub-channel is dynamically selected which the cable-box then receives. If the user pauses or stops the show the channel is disconnected and stops being streamed by the cable company. When the user restarts the movie the process is repeated but on another channel. So in essence you are seeing 'free' stuff, but you've not been given something you shouldn't otherwise receive.

Andy.

Hi Andy,

Thanks for the reply. So, you are saying I'm seeing is programming that someone else selects on demand? Does this mean a neighbor? What is the range of the "someone else(s)" whose stuff I am seeing? My neighborhood, Portland, beyond? I'm surprised that it works this way. Couldn't Comcast get in trouble if say, some kid inadvertantly tuned into someone else's on-edemand porn that was appearing on their TV? Curious, but thanks for the info.

Regards,
Terry

I'm on Charter, and I just did a rescan of my HDHR, basically so I could play with it on one of my Vista Ultimate machines, and noticed pretty quickly that I'm getting alot of channels I didn't get before. I'm basically getting all the HBO/Cinemax channels (their HD & SD) (I sub these on my cable boxes, but they have never come in on the HDHR before).

This took me from about 11-12 channels to around 33 channels in the clear (that I can map, I get around a dozen or so VOD's, and ALL the music channels, but I believe Sage complains about them not having any video).

Looks like I spoke too soon, must have been free-preview on Charter for those channels last week. All gone this week.

I noticed some people are producing significant lists with lots of data. How are people doing this? Is there an application I can use with my HDHomeRun to scan for what QAM channels I have available?

I get the same lineup, not a single SD channel is unencryped I can tune..

I wish somebody with comcast - Chicago would list their QAM I'd switch if I can get the normal channels.

Is there a list like this for FireWwire recordable channels via STB? Seems complicated to setup just to see what channels i can use it on. The Main purpose would be to record digital sound on SD channels like Sci-Fi.. Mmmm Battlestar Galactica

Cox - Hampton Roads VA

80-3-1 -> WTKR-DT (CBS) -HD
106-10-0 -> WAVY-DT (NBC) -HD
106-14-0 -> WVBT-DT (FOX) -HD
80-15-1 -> WHRO-DT (PBS) -HD
73-0-1 -> WVEC-DT (ABC) -HD

85-0-1 -> ON DEMAND?
92-0-6 -> ???? - Probably on Demand, Sage locks up when I try to tune it in.
92-0-7 -> On Demand
92-0-12 -> Same as 92-0-6
93-0-9 -> PIN? infomertials
93-0-10 -> GemsTV
94-0-8 -> WAVY weather station
94-0-10 -> same as 92-0-6

114-0-7 -> VTC (local)
114-0-8 -> jewelry TV

OTA is actually better, though you have to deal with signal quality issues. But there are a few local OTA HD channels you can't get on COX (CW and MyTV being two).
Knowing COX this will only get worse, used to get the music channels, now they're scrambled. HD versions of the channels we already have (Discovery, TNT, A&E, ESPN) are free but only with the digital cable service.

Much as I love Sage I hope they can figure something out before the cable companies run them out of the DVR field too.
