You're right, it didn't (different programs make the file with different capitalization), it does now.

I've slipped a quick fix into the download.
Download the latest version.

Updated the first post to consolidate configuration and options information and included a little information on that question for the ages. What do I have to do to get commercial skipping working in SageTV?

All suggested additions welcome.

Hey John - first, thanks for being so responsive and building new versions so fast! Second, to answer your questions:

1. Mainly for HD recordings but has happened in SD
2. 1.3.5
3. Commercial start only
4. Delays settings have always been 0msec and 0msec

FYI... I just installed 1.3.7 and it seems to have fixed my issue. The automatic skipping now works as expected and consistently at commercial starts. What changed in your algorithm to determine when to skip? Whatever you changed seems to be working well

JREKiwi,
I have been using your new update to this plug in exclusively and it has been working really good. Haven't found any problems and the back-skip fix is working fine. Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback guys, It's good to get that reassurance that it's working for someone other than me.

John,

I just upgraded to the latest 6.1 as well as upgrading to the latest ComSkip plugin. A few things I've noticed:

- I do not see any option on the video menu to manually run ComSkip. I have set "Manual Comskip" to "Enabled" in the options. What am I doing wrong?

- In the setup menu there is an option "Show Timeline on Skip". What does this do?

Thanks,

Tom

Edit: Answered my own first question: If comskip files are already available the "Run Comskip" button does not show up. If you "Delete Comskip Files" that button changes to "Run Comskip". Also, the option to Run Comskip does not show up for .avi files.

John,

I recently noticed an interesting issue. Every so often, I like to hit the Info button while watching a show to read the recap info that appears at the top of the screen. If you hit the "right" arrow, the recap info disappears. Hitting "right" again makes it reappear.

You may be able to see where this is going... I then installed the comskip playback plugin and use the "right" arrrow to fast forward through commercials. Hitting the right arrow not only fast forwards through commercials, it also toggles the recap info that appears when hit the Info button.

Is there a way that you can prevent the toggling of the show summary info when I hit the right button? Does this make sense? Thoughts?

Show Timeline on Skip Enabled/Disabled
When Enabled the timebar will display momentarily when skipping a commercial. (Some people like to see some feedback when auto skipping)
When Disabled, it won't.

I'll update the afore mentioned first post to include the delete and run comskip info on the video menu.

Try this one. This isn't quite what you asked for. It will toggle the show summary when it is being displayed and skip when info is not being displayed.

John - it's not a bad solution for now. The only issue is I can't fast forward through commercials when the info is being displayed. You may want to look into somehow "disabling" the recap info toggling when the right button is pressed. This may be difficult though as it's "core" functionality to Sage. If you get this working, it would be cool to have this added to the options menu to give users the flexibility to choose what they want.

Have a great weekend.

LehighBri, I think I'll just leave it as a limitation at the moment, (you can't skip while the Video Info is being displayed). Is having the Video Info displayed and wanting to skip a commercial something that happens in the "real world"?

Updated the download

(1.3.8)
- Changed left/right skip to not skip when Video Info is being displayed (Video Info also uses left/right to toggle on/off so was toggling info on/off as well as skipping)
- Fix imported videos not displaying titles on options panel (regression from 1.3.6)

I would say yes as I can see people hitting the Info button to see the timeline and then trying to skip while watching the timeline. Others?

FWIW - I do this too. Sometimes the comskip marks aren't accurate. So, instead of tweaking comskip, I work around it because it is close enough.

I always hit the 'OK' button to see the timeline before manually skipping with the right arrow. I check the dark green (commercial) spots---sometimes the spots are real wide and I know it overshot the commerical so I will skip/ff instead. This only happens once in a while, it is usually pretty accurate.

the latest comskip.exe (91?) has been doing good w/ the evening news where the older ones would miss a program section about 1/2 way through.

Here's a feature request: Batch Delete Comskip Files/Batch Run Comskip.

Usage example: I've got a folder full of Aqua-Teen Hunger Force shows archived. They were processed with version "x" of Comskip and now version "y" is out which does a better job. I'd love to select that folder in the UI and do a batch delete/batch run and re-comskip the video files.

All hail Comskip and Comskip Playback!

Help for a NOOBE / idiot? Can't get things working...

Okay... first I'm new, (3 weeks)and have spent hours going thru the forums trying to figure out comskip etc, but can't seem to get it to work. (I saw someone wrote a simple tutorial a few days back, but can't find it now for some reason)

I downloaded Comskip, (The latest, .91) unzipped and copied the Comskip dictionary, comskip.exe, .ini and comskipgui.exe into my program files\SageTV directory. I then installed your STV. (I'm running version 6.1.8 of Sage).

The STV seems installed correctly... I get all the extra menus etc. However, I can't seem to get the commercial skipping to work. Note that I didn't install Dirmon yet, as I wanted to start slow, and not complicate things yet. I was going to use your STV to start the comskip manually for now...

When I go to a recording and choose the "run Comskip" item, nothing seems to happen....

If I go to the "Externals" folder and open the postprocessing log, it shows the Postprocessing.bat invoked on F:\TV Shows\.... etc correctly, but that is about it.

I'm sure I'm missing something simple... do I need to edit the comskip.ini file to set a path (My shows are stored on my F: drive)... do I need to do something else to setup the actual comskip program? I can't find any edl files being generated... where would they be? They are not in my shows folder...

Help.... sorry, I know this sounds simple to others who have it going, but i'm now questioning my sanity

Tom
