Two Directories of Sage Files

I've been using SageTV for about three years now and have seen multiple versions come out and I've installed them all. What I have now is two separate directories: ...program files/frey technologies and ...program files/sagetv. Both of these folders have a sagetv subfolder beneath.

What is confusing for me is that when I look at date/timestamps on files in both these directories I see that both are being updated as I run SageTV.

I would like to clean up my installation as I am assuming that only one directory is relevant to the current version (about to install 6.x beta).

Any suggestions on which directory is the "current" one and how I should go about cleaning up my installation?

I should add that this is purely for my desire to cleanup the directories; SageTV is working great.

Thanks

George

I'm guessing that at some point, SageTV was installed into the new default directory (program files/SageTV), then the previous installation's configuration files were copied into that dir. In that case, the properties file would still be pointing to the old installation dir for something like wiz.bin.

When you start SageTV, which exe is being started? (Check your shortcut properties) That's the current dir.

What files other than wiz.bin do you see being updated in the other install dir? If that's the only one, you could just copy it to the new dir & change the path to it in sage.properties. You could also check your properties file to see what other paths point to the old dir.

I would first make a backup copy of anything you decide to change.

See if either of these two posts help:

Edit: looks like Opus4 already covered it.

Thanks guys for the information.

Looks like the directory changed over in SageTV 3 and I never paid much attention to it until now. I modified the properties file to look at the SageTV folder and moved my wiz.bin file there and bingo everything worked.

Just finished installing 6.0.14 and so far I like it. Now to begin customizing it....
