Single vs Multipass Transcoding
Hi-
Does two=pass encoding significantly increase the transcoding time? Also- is it possible to do one pass encoding for things that dont really matter (i.e. 20 episodes of Dora) and save the two-pass encodes for things that do (i.e. Lost in HD)? Thanks, Mike |

a two pass encoding works very good, ( imho ) this is the best single feature that sagetv has brought to the table. I just coverted 8 720P movies and movies like Se7en went from 12.5 gigs to 6 gigs using "HD Mpeg4 good" setting and took about 2 hours and a bit to convert on a AMD 4200 x2 with 1gig of ram.
I think you would have remove the line in Sage.properties transcoder/enable_multipass_encoding= to use the single pass. Personal if you have the time, do the multi pass encoding overnight, I just setup 8 or so movies or a few tv shows last night.
