I setup sage (not in service mode) to control my stb via HIP and everything worked fine.

If I run the service control app and configure sage to run as a service, the next time i run sage it can no longer control the stb. If I disable service mode and reboot my machine, the next time I run sage, everything is working again.

Am I missing something? I read that I have to configure the sage service to interact with the deskktop, but I don't know what that means.

I'm having trouble getting this to work with sage running in service mode. It works fine as long as sage isnt running as a service. I read something mentioning that the service has to be able to interact with the desktop, but I'm not sure what that means.

Can anyone give me a point in the right direction?

I read that to use HIP to control sage running as a service, it must be able to "interact with the desktop". Can anyone tell me what this means?

You really only have to ask a question in one place, so I merged them all into one post here.

In Windows, you can run services.msc, find the SageTV service, then view its properties. The "Log On" tab has an option to "Allow service to interact with desktop". That's probably what they are referring to, but I know hothing about HIP.

Thanks for the advice.

I made the change you suggested and HIP appears to be functioning correctly with sage running as a service.
