Locator server did not have an IP address registered for this locator ID

I went to configure the placeshifter/media to use my MVP. I did this:

1) Setup, advance: Sever=Enabled, Placesifter=Enabled.
2) When I go to test Placeshifter I get:

THE LOCATOR SERVER DID NOT HAVE AN IP ADDRESS REGISTERED FOR THIS LOCATOR ID.

What am I doing wrong?

I was able to configured in 2 of my friend's houses and now that I like it and want to use it for me it does not work?

Try again; also check your firewall settings on your SageTV Server. Maybe it's blocking SageTV from registering itself with the locator server. (it uses outbound port 8018 for the locator)

so it goes out of my network to Sage to register? The locator server is out of my network? I thought it was the pc where I have sage installed.

Yes, your server registers on to the main Sage locator server and the locator server keeps track of your IP address. Then your placeshifter contacts the locator server for your current IP address for you network and then connects to your Sage server.

IF you have a static IP address, or are using a Dynamic DNS service, you could use that to connect with instead of using the Locator ID.

One other thing to double check, though I'm not even sure if this issue could cause the reported error... what version are you running? If using v5, make sure to toggle the SageTV Server option off & then back on (or restart SageTV) after enabling the "Media Extender and Placeshifter Server" option.

If using v6, be sure to answer "Yes - Restart SageTV Server" when toggling the Placeshifter Server option.

Well, actually I downloaded the Placeshifter client to a pc and tried to used it inside my network. It works. So, I guess the only problem I would have is the fact that I will not be able to connect from outside, which does not matter to me.

Now, when I turn on my Media MVP it boots, and goes all the way and gets stuck on a screen that displays SAGE TV and it says: The SageTV Media Center is booting up, Please Wait.

I already tested the placeshifter client on a pc and it works, I get the sagetv screen and can do everything. That tell me that internally I am OK, but why is my Media MVP not working??? Do I need to configure something on my sagetv server for MVP to work?

I think I know what the problem is, but may need help to fix it.
Right now I have a P4 computer which is my new pc. Before I had a P3 and it was slower, that is why I upgraded and now sage works great.

When I had the OLD pc that is when I got the placeshifter license and it worked fine but ended up not using it. Now I have the need to use it with Media MVP. The difference is that I have a NEW pc.

I was thinking about this and decided to turn off the NEW pc and reinstall the OLD pc and all works great, I can do the TEST Placeshifter with no errors and even my MVP connect with no problems. So I guess the OLD pc is register somewhere (sage locator server ????). So, I found an option to UNREGISTER the placeshifter license. So in the OLD computer I UNREGISTER my only license and it told me that the license had been removed.

So then I disconnected OLD pc and reconnected new pc and when thru the process of REGISTERING the license in the new pc which it took. It said 1 valid license register. Then I go to TEST PLACESHIFTER but continue getting the error about THE LOCATOR SERVER DID NOT HAVE AN IP ADDRESS REGISTERED FOR THIS LOCATOR ID.

The OLD pc had a different locator than the one I get with the NEW pc, so that is had to be the problem. But I thought that UNREGISTERING the license will take care of the problem and register my new locator to the locator server but it looks like it is not doing it. Unless it takes hours for this to happen.

What do you guys think?? How can I unregister to register the new pc???
