MVP Double-Image

Anyone seen an issue with the MVP where occasionally on startup you see a double-image? This is basically when the Sage menu comes up, there's the menu there with a second image overlaid a little below the first, so everything is duplicated. Hard to explain, but if you've seen it you'll know...

Reckon it's a Hauppauge problem or a Sage one? Next time it happens and I'm home I'll take a photo.

Sounds like ghosting, which would be a cableing issue. You might want to check on that. I am using the MVP with the composite out how are you connecting it up?

SCART (which won't mean a lot to you unless you're in Europe...). Thing is, I'm sure it's not cabling because it's only probably every 20th startup, and not when the MVPs have been moved; and also, it happens on both MVPs with different TVs...

I have seen this, too. But only since I update to 6 Beta so I don't think it's a cabling issue.
I can usually fix it by just switching the MVP off and on again. And like rickgillyon said it's only happening once in a blue moon so I didn't really pay much attention to this 'problem'

BTW My MVP is PAL, too. SO maybe it's an issue with the PAL implementation in Sage 6

Same thing happened to me yesterday after switching the MVP off-on. Tried to restart the MVP several times with the on/off button but this did not help. Finally I unplugged the power, this did solve the problem. Never seen this behavior before.

I have a PAL MVP connected by SCART, SageTV 6.0.13 (not running in service mode).

same here. saw it once, several restarts did not help, until cable was removed and image was renewed.

Just had a very swift reply from support. This has been seen, rarely, on both PAL and NTSC MVPs. Happens also with the Hauppauge MVP image, so it's a hardware issue rather than a Sage issue. Probably worth checking with Hauppauge support, when I have the time...

I have seen this as recently as last night.. I get the Sage Boot screen and then when the main GUI comes up it looks as if the background doesn't get switched and the GUI shows over the bootup screen.. if I power cycle (with the remote) a couple times it fixes it... this is only an issue with the betas on my system.. It happens on all 3 of my MVP's, so I don't think it is a hardware error.. and it only just begun with the latest couple of beta releases...

PS.. I use the NTSC version of the MVP.. both wired and wireless

My problem doesn't show the boot screen and the UI, just two versions of the UI.

I see it too and it started with ver 6. Not a big problem though but for sure a Sage one.

Support say they saw it on Hauppauge's bootloader too, so not a Sage problem. I have no reason to doubt them.

Hmm, I've never seen it on my Hauppauge bootloader. And why are we all seeing it now with ver 6 and not berfore? Well in any case I don't think it is a big problem - I'm used to "pull the plug" - but for new costumers it might be.

If you think it's not a hardware issue and is a Sage v6 problem, you should report it. I've only used the MVP in v6, so don't have the perspective you may have. I can assure you, if it's not reported as a bug, it won't be investigated.

I've seen the same problem at about the same frequency. I highly doubt it's a cabling issue either. This is on my iTreadmill and the cables are tied tight. I've never seen the issue on the Hauppauge software, but then again, it doesn't happen often and I don't use the Hauppauge software often so my limited statistics ability says I'm not likely to see it in native Hauppage software just by the odds.

My fix was the same as everyone elses, ... pull the power plug, count to 5, plug in, fixed.

And another one (me) reporting the same issue, never had it before - first time I saw it was after this beta.
And no, not a major issue - reboot does the trick.

Rick I think you put the kiss of death on this.

Never had this problem before. Then when I was watching a Dvix file it froze and when I tried to reboot via the romote this happend.

Only ever seen this happen once. Had to unplug the unit. I only had to unplug the MVP twice sence ver 6. Had to do this daily in ver 5
