DivX Files Crash on Playback
My Sage system has been very stable for anything that it records and playback. However I am having problems with files that have been created outside the Sage system. I have some movies that I have created as DivX AVI files and if you watch about two or three of them Sage will crash, its very inconsistent and doesn't seem picky about which file it crashes on. Once the system has crashed I can reload Sage and everything works fine.

Can you play the same files in WMP? FWIW, I uninstalled every MP4 codec on my system, then installed ffmpeg. It plays every MP4-encoded file I've tried, including DiVX, xvid, 3ivx.

I have sort of the same issues, but only in VMR9 mode. And I crash a the startup of any divx file while using the default STV. Using SageMC, SageTV minimizes then i can click on the taskbar and resize it.
This never happened in V5, only beta 6. This does NOT happen with mp4 files (atelast not nero avc files, the only mp4's i have). |

So this does not seem like a common problem. I'll maybe have to contact Sage Support.
I'll have to check what my settings are for video playback. It seems crash in the middle or towards the end of the file, but never a similar spot. I'm using the lastest release of version 5. |

I also had a couple of SageTV crashes when trying to play DivX files. Starting SageTV after that and playing the same files works!

FYI, I fixed my issues by running "driver cleaner", then installing the latest Nvidia driver (93.71). I was having strange issues before I ran driver cleaner
( http://www.drivercleaner.net/ ). So I highly recommend it. |
