Unfortunaly it is not legitimate. Digiguide is NOT allowed to let its data be used externally to the program. If uoi can then one of two things will happen:

a) Digiguide will loose their license with the supplier
b) Digiguide will cange their format and stop you subscription.

Please respect digiguides rights to protect their data and not post things on how to get round it, it isn't fair to them or to legitimate uesrs f the software that use this feature for what it is intended.

Not meaning to have a go but the Digiguide EULA and website is pretty clear on these issues and we should respect them,

Matt

Reading Digiguides forums is somewhat amusing...
There are 2 threads (1, 2) where basically Digiguide people say (in between being stroppy and offensive to MythTV users, and appearing to deliberately misunderstand) that their licence with their listings providers only allows use of the listings data on the web and in the Digiguide program.

They also state (in not so many words) that there is not a big enough market for PVRs to make it worthwhile to develop the s/w and get a new licence.

In the meantime, elsewhere on their website, we have:
Quote:
DigiGuide Set Top Box
We know this is what you really want and it's high on our list. We are looking for far sighted partners to help us bring DigiGuide and DigiGuide products to a TV set near you.

i removed the message re digiguide export to protect myself and this forum.

so runnng xmltv and the possibility of radiotimes spotting my ip/cookie leaching from there web site is the only way of getting epg data in the uk at the moment.

this is such a shame as sage tv is awsome i love t.

it's good that you make these points before i get my self into any trouble

it's just so frustrating having a good product like sage tv and having to spanner in the key part without epg data it's useless.

in future i will keep anything i find like this to my self unless i am sure it's ok or even sending you a pm first for your thoughts.

thanks

Lee

There will soon be some alternatives to the uk_rt grabber...

The XMLTV UK person is working on a new uk grabbler using freely available data from http://www.broadcastingdata.com/listing/download.html

Someone has also developed a tool using xget and xsltproc which converts data from BLEB's xml format to XMLTV's xml format, but i believe it was written on linux, but it may be possible to convert it to a Windows bat file.. (wget and xsltproc are both available for Windows)
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/zmower/...b_uk_bleb.html

There is also an untested patch to tv_grab_uk_rt to attempt to speed it up a little by grabbing fewer pages
news://news.gmane.org/<Pine.LNX.4.20....future-i.net> (you need to be running XMLTV source version under cygwin to apply the patch)

[edit] updated url for bleb grabber
