Purevideo De-interlacing

Can someone please check these two pictures? They were captured from two windowed SageTV stills of SDTV, using VMR9, an NVIDIA GeForce 6200 with 91.47 driver, DVI output connected to the HDMI input of a Sony KDF-E50A10 Integrated LCD Rear Projection HD TV.
One is using Purevideo v. 4020.196.0.0; the other Intervideo v. 6.0.6.56. Although the pictures are low-def., you can clearly see the differences in the two "E"s in CAREER or in the the mug-shot. I know that there is a de-interlacing problem with the Purevideo, but for the life of me I cannot fix it. I have tried every configuration I could think of; changed Bob, Weave, Bob and Weave from Sage; On NVIDIA properties I tried Auto, film, video, Smart and Smarter de-interlace control; best, separately and combine fields de-interlace mode. Nothing makes a difference! (On the other hand, If I tweak anything in the color tab of the decoder properties the effect is immediate).
I am clearly out of my depth here. Can someone please point me in the right direction?
