No audio in recorded favorite (ATI TV wonder elite)
Well, tonite I recorded Heroes on NBC and I just sat down to watch it and there is no audio. The video is fine, but there is no audio. At first I thought something might be wrong with my sound card but then I played Live TV in sage and it was working fine with audio. I tried to play the saved mpeg file in windows media player and again no audio. Is this common? This is the first time it has ever happened to me? Is there an easy way to remedy this?

Please, it happened again, i tried to record another show tonite on a differnt channel and the same thing happened,, just video with no audio
both shows were on my favorites i made a timed recording of a random channel for one minute just to see if it worked, and it worked fine,, video and audio i dont think i changed any settings at all,,, what could be doing this? |

What are your tuner(s)?
Were the tests that resulted in sound done using the same tuner as the Fav? Were you testing the same channel(s)? Are your Favs set to use a different recording quality than what the default recording quality is set as in Detailed Setup -> Multimedia? - Andy

My tuner is an ATI TV wonder elite
Yes i tested the same channel with the same tuner (i only have 1 tuner) My favs are set as default recording quality This has never happened before to any of my favs. I've recorded numerous favs without any trouble. And now it has happened two times in a row. Just to problem solve, i added a new fav that was about to air later last night and it recorded fine, with audio and video Today I've installed the new beta release b/c i've run out of solutions (i dont know if that would even do anything) |

If it was working before & there were no changes on your system, I'm not sure what would make the audio go missing on a few recordings.
I added the tuner name to the thread title in case that gets anyone's attention for this specific issue. The v6 beta will create a debug log automatically; for v5 you can turn it on via a property setting (see the forum FAQs for details). You could see if SageTV notices any problems in the log. - Andy

two favorites recorded tonite with the new beta version with no problems... strange stuff,, i will keep you updated

Same problem, no audio on NBC
Sadly, I've beening having the same problems. Heroes on NBC no longer appears to record the audio, but the video is fine. Shows on other channels record video and audio without a problem. This is quite strange. I'm using SageTV 5.0.4.92 with a Hauppauge PVR150 and recording Analog broadcast in chicago. I'm not nearly as advanced as the other users here and have yet to fully debug the issue, but just wanted to let others know that I'm having the same issue. Hopefully upgrading to the new beta will solve the problem...

ok, it happened again,,, it hasnt happened since i complained before (although one favorite recording was entirely snow reception once)
tried recording The Office today at 8. Video fine, NO AUDIO. I recorded Scrubs right afterwards (same channel) Video fine, audio fine. Before it was a bit of a nusance, now i'm furious. You're furious because you encounter problems with beta versions?? I think you need to get it in perspective...
But you should log it with Sage if you want a resolution.

i encountered the problem with the stable version as well... the 5.0.4 or something... i only changed to the beta in hopes to see a difference

Audio Stopped Working on NBC channel 3?
Hi, My sagetv recorded a favorite tonight, Jericho on channel 3 (analog cable) and it had no audio at all. Video was fine. I still can't get audio on that channel even live? It just started today for some reason. I tried shutting down program, re-starting, and even rebooted machine. Still no audio on channel 3 (CBS) This has never happened before today. I have pvr 150 hauppauge card.

Sorry, it is channel 3 CBS that audio stopped, not nbc.

I got it working again!
Hi all,
I finally got channel 3, CBS audio to work again. I had to disconnect the cable line and then reconnect it. I have no idea why it stopped to begin with, because the cable had not been disconnected before? Anyway, after doing all the normal fixes, the cable line reconnecting is what fixed it for me. -Tom |
