No DVD's with MVP?

I just got my Sage MVP. Well it's a Hauppauge MVP. Is there a Sage MVP or just the Hauppauge?

So it says you can't watch DVDs. Does that mean DVD's from the DVD itself? Or does it mean the ones that rip/decrypted to the harddrive? What won't work? From what I'm reading on this forum, it sounds like the DD5.1. But will it play the DD2.0 or a non DD track?

Thanks

DVD's (stored on your HD) will work fine. You just need to make sure they are ripped in the proper structure with both Video_TS & Audio_TS folders in the main DVD folder. If your MVP has an SPDIF output and you use that Sage has told me that it will pass on the digital tracks without transcoding the audio on the server. Otherwise--your server will have to transcode the audio tract. It works fine on my AthlonXP 2000 server but i would guess that is close to the minimum speeds you'll need.

The Hauppauge MVP is the SageTV media extender.

You'll have to use SageTV version 6 to watch DVDs on the MVP. It can play non-encrypted DVDs; it does not have the ability to decrypt & play commercially encrypted DVDs.
