Looking for someone to "decode" miniX.dmp files
I have been experiencing a few erratic BSODs and cannot figure out how to "cause" them to occur... I've been trying all day today.
Is there anybody that can help me with "reading" the contents of the miniX.dmp files that I have? I have no way to "decode" their contents. The reason I ask is because I primarily keep the "automatically restart" option turned on since I cannot usually be in front of the computer awaiting another BSOD, and therefore have been unable to write down the BSOD details. Like I said above, I've ironically been trying to cause another BSOD (with the "automatically restart" option turned off) without success. Thanks in advance! NOTE: I figure this is a hardware issue and not sagetv, but if it turns out to be a sagetv software issue, I'm sure the moderators will move it to where is appropriate...

Your Event log files might help
Your Event log files might help.
You can get to them through "Administrative tools" in your control panel. Let me know what some of them say around the times the cpu restarts/BSOD's |

In my experience BSODs almost always are caused by one of two things: bad memory and bad drivers. Bad drivers can be tricky to track down - usually the easiest thing to do is disable or remove components until the BSODs go away. Bad memory isn't so hard - just run a memory tester and see if any errors show up. If they do, you may have to adjust the timings in your bios to something more conservative, or try removing memory sticks until the errors go away.
My favorite memory tester is the Microsoft memory tester, available here: http://www.majorgeeks.com/Microsoft_...tic_d3955.html |
