Tiny 6.1 Receiver?

So I am looking at picking up the Bose Acoustimass 16 Series II for the bedroom. My problem is this, they don't come with a receiver and being in the bedroom I don't want a big receiver. Does anyone know a tiny 6.1 received that does Dolby? I was thinking possibly on picking up like an Xbox 360/PS2 speaker system but I'm not sure if that's the best option.

Any ideas?

I also don't want an integrated DVD player. No need for it.

Panasonic XR 57?

And while we're at it, might I suggest one of these instead?
http://www.paradigm.com/Website/Site...ma_Series.html
http://www.svsound.com/products-sys-sbs_black.cfm
http://www.hsustore.com/vt12.html

Any of which will blow the Bose out of the water, and for less money even.

Looks like I'll have to do some research on those speaker suggestions since I haven't heard of them.

but the SA-XR57 looks doable, was looking for even smaller though but it may not be possible.

But I am interested in the speakers you suggest.

I've got a pair of Cinema 70's (got them for computer speakers), and they are very good. Haven't heard the others personally, but I've heard good things about them.

The Panasonic is an excellent choice for a small reciever. It has earned near legendary status among fans of digital amplifiers for it's cost/performance ratio.

As for Bose, frankly I'd rather listen to 'a homeless guy bangin a trash can lid with a stick' than listen to their overpriced garbage. ANY of the above mentioned alternatives will serve you far better.

Yeah I have the Ventriloquist VT-12 speakers and I must say that they sound pretty darn good for thier size. And that price really cant be beat for what you get. Also I have it accompied with the stf-2 sub http://www.hsustore.com/stf2.html and the combo sounds really nice in a bedroom.

Hmm...well I think tonight at work (I work graveyard) I'll have to spend a lot of time resaerching on what to get. I mean saving money is awalys great, and even more so if I can save $800 on a system. I mean I do liek the Bose system and what I am looking for is a big sound from a tiny setup and I plan on having the same system in the livingroom at some point. I have a system there now but they are big Infinity speakers, which do blow the doors off of Bose but I'd like to go with tiny to make it more flush with an LCD TV.

BTW, stanger89 what do you think about my 88 GT Convert having the Ford 68L V-10? And along with a T56 pulled from a Viper?

But we'll see, I am now thinking of selling it and picking up a McLaren edition Mustang and sropping in the V-10 with the T56 in there. I never saw a McLaren in person until last week and I was in awe. Photos of it I thought looked ugly.

Would it fit? There's not a lot of room in there

It fits but barely. I Googled it like 4 or 5 years ago and saw a couple of pics with it done and like 3 months ago someone else was going to do it and actually had everything ready to go but didn't do it yet. He had a lot of details about it which I do want to find his website again.

Actually, I want this instead.

http://findarticles.com/p/articles/m...16/ai_n6206281

The 351 V10. Just am reading about it now. So maybe I will be holding off on the 6.8L swap and basically replace every other part in the car. Or ge the McLaren and prepare her for a V10.

I second the Paradigm suggestion. I have the Atoms & Titans (fairly low end for Paradigm) with the Cinema center and it sounds great. The Cinema package is a great deal if you're looking at keeping things on the small size.

Paradign looks pretty good and maybe the way to go.

But actually I am now looking at these.

http://us.creative.com/products/prod...3&product=9306

I am reading some forums and a few are swearing that these are better then the Bose and eevn some other lower model Creative/Cambridge speakers.

And for just over $300 the Creative looks really appealing. That's of course with a $100 rebate.

Why not get the Creative Decoder DDTS-100 it only $100, It has switch on the box to allows for 5.1, 6.1 or 7.1 Spk setup which also has 3 digital optical, 1 digital coaxial, and 3 set of RCA analog stereo input and 3 1/8 output for 5.1, 6.1 or 7.1 Spk setup, Then get your self GigaWorks/Inspire 7.1 Systems or 5.1 Systems it really a waste time to get 6.1 system if ask me

That's not really saying a lot.

Might want to look at this:

well I can't say Bose sucks but after readng some other forums it just seems like they aren't he way to go because of the price. And if the Creative setup sounds better that's theres something wrong with Bose since the Creative really is a computer system.

but I had always know Bose wasn't the best for sound, I just didn't really know about other alternatives for small speakers.

also I was looking at Orb speakers and they seem pretty good.

Don't forget about:
Mirage Omnisats
Energy (can't remember the name of the small line)
Klipsch Promedia Ultra 5.1s (there's an HT version but they're more)

It may suprize you phenixdragon but joint venture would lead to the acquisition of Cambridge SoundWorks in 1997 by Creative and Cambridge SoundWorks was after Battery Portable and PC powered loudspeaker market long before Creative Lab joint venture with them.
