Linux MPEG Editor

If I go the Linux route and install the OEM version on a PC with a few tuners and lots of HDD space, what's the best way to edit those videos? Should I look for a Linux MPEG editor? or should I transfer the video to a Windows/Mac and edit the video there, then transfer the video back to the server?

There are several editors in Linux that work very well...

avedemux will allow you to edit most video files and transform them to other format's

ffmpeg and mencoder transformes from one format to another they have the bigest libary.

Thease are the two I use for video files but there are many more.

ok, so my last Windows PC finally dumped and I am now 100% linux.

There were 2 major reasons why I had stuck with the sole Windows box for as long as I did:
1. DVD Authoring software (TMPEG)
2. MPEG Editing software (VideoReDo)

I am happy to say that I successfully got VideoReDo working under Wine!

And my windows key that I purchased worked!

Now, there are still some issues (it crashed when I tried to run ad-detective, but that's ok because there's this nifty comskip app and plugin for SageTV), but it works.

The ONLY thing is that I had a number of old Vprj files on my sage server from when my workstation was windows and mounted the sage via samba on my M drive. However, all I have to do is edit the .Vprj file to change the path from M:/tv to whatever the new mount path is on my Linux workstation. (if I had thought this through, I maybe would have mounted sage:/var/media/ onto desktop:/var/media/ to be consistent, but I don't always think these things through).

Comskip outputs the Vprj files and I pick them up, tweak the cuts, and resave.
and it's FAST.

Still looking for that killer DVD Author App, but I may as well at least attempt to use wine ....
