Dual HD tuners with v6?

The only two tuners I have in my system (server) are Avermedia a180 tuners. I've been using them both together without problems on v5. As soon as I upgraded to v6, one of the tuners started giving an error. ("There was a capture error in playback. Details: ERROR (-4,0x8007001f): There was a problem using the capture device. Please be sure you have the latest drivers installed for your capture device and that they are installed correctly.")

I tried removing/re-adding the tuners into Sage source setup and get the same problem - I can add either card by itself and it works fine, but as soon as I try to add the second card, it gives me an error. I reverted to v5 and they both worked fine. Tried re-upgrading to v6 and am having the same problems again.

When I remove the sources to try to basically start over, the first source I add works fine. The second one sometimes gives me an error (when I select "Digital TV Tuner" as the input on the source, and sometimes it just hangs on "Please wait for the video preview to load..." and there's nothihng I can do but manually shut Sage down.

I've submitted a bug to Sage, but am hoping someone else might have some debug suggestions I can try?

For anyone running into the same problem, a bug was filed and a fix was provided within the day! Awesome work by Sage CS!!

I don't know exactly what the problem was, but I was provided with a replacement DShowCapture.dll that fixed the issues I was having. I assume the fix will be included in future releases.

Thumbs up

Hi Popechild,
Thanks for bringing this up---just tested my (2) A-180's and ONLY ONE will work at a time---and I get the same error message. With MLB playoffs on these days some of my shows aren't scheduled so I have only needed one HD tuner. I hope they post this fix for us to use.

Randy

Hi Opus,

Can this fix (driver?) be posted for download? My system will not record (2) HD shows at the same time with (2) A-180's.

Thanks,

Randy

So my question is do we need to all file a bug report for this fix to get the file or is there another way to fix this issue/get the file?

You'd be better off sending a request to support. Opus probably isn't your best source to go to for support and core bugfixes.

Yeah, I logged the bug through the link on this forum and was really impressed with how fast they responded. I'm not sure if it'll help or not, but you could tell them that you read on here that a fix was done on 10/9 by Qian. I wouldn't think it would take too long for them to get the fix out to you - they might just need to ask a few questions to verify that it's the same problem. After 3 or 4 back and forths with log files, etc., he sent me the fix the same day. Working like a beaut.

I just finished talking with support. If you have the same issue as mentioned in this thread and need to record using both tuners, downgrade back to v5. They have a fix but are not releasing it yet.

Yea, I submitted a bug report and received an email saying it will be fixed IN NEXT RELEASE. (did not mention rolling back to Ver 5, but I guess I'll have to).

Dual HD tuner issue not fixed in Beta 6.12

Randy
I installed Beta V6.12 last night and now what's happening is when I either watch live TV or recordings, after approx. 10-15 secs my monitor screen goes blank and XP totally locks up and I have to reboot. I disabled both hardware acceleration and VMR9 and it seems to help a little. Instead of my PC locking up immediately it will talk maybe several minutes instead. I am running the lastest NVIDIA purevideo decoders and the lastest Nvidia Video drivers 91.47. I never had this problem with version 5.4. It's strictky been introduced with the new beta.

Anyone else experiencing this issue with lockups?

Unhappy Hasn't Dual HD tuner issue been fixed yet?

Hi,
I decided to try the new Ver 6 (again)---tried the first beta a few months ago and dual hd tuners would not work (A-180's). One person got a "quick response" and fix but the rest of us were told it was not ready to be released yet and the fix was forthcoming. We have since had several beta updates and now a final version and it still does not work. (Yes, I did file a bug report).

Does anyone have the directshow.dll (or whatever the fix is)?? Qian, anybody?

Thanks for any help with this.

Randy

That's strange. I had the dual tuner problem (two FusionHDTV5 USB's), and I think it was finally fixed in .17, or it may have been the final release. I had the DShowCapture.dll or whatever it was in my install directory, and this last time, did not have to overwrite the one that was installed by SageTV...I have deleted it, since it seems to be working now...

Good luck. Maybe they can help fix it. I know Qian is good. Maybe I'd try reinstalling SageTV, just to make sure, and do a reboot.

Smile Got It Working.

Thanks Geogecko for the reply--I found the dshow.dll from another post and finally decided to REBOOT (like you suggest) and all is well now. Thanks again.

Good to hear. That dual tuner problem can really sneak up on you. You don't know it's broken, until usually, you miss a show because of it.

Wink

That's EXACTLY what happened---missed a Favorite recording and did some digging and found 2nd tuner not working.

Yep, and the funny thing, is that it doesn't give you a conflict, even when you have two shows that need to be recorded at the same time. It will just flat out not record the other one...

I'm glad they got it fixed.

Well I,m running 2 x A180 HD tuners on 6.0.19 and ever since beta version 6.0.12 only one tuner will work. I'm failing on the same errors noted above as well. Did Sage support ever fix this issue and if so how ?

Scan for Channels with each tuner.

I know they fixed the issue with Dual Fusion HD tuners. But you have to go into each tuner and scan for channels with each tuner. Then they both work. Have you tried this?
