Exclude Channels.
Hi,
Great plugin, works very well. Only request I have is to be able to exclude channels. In the UK we have a lot of channels that don't have ads. Regards, Nick. |

Hi,
I like the plugin, it's a breeze to setup. I have a fairly powerful server, dual DC 3.2GHz Xeon. Probably overkill, but it's what I had. I have Comskip running on high mode all the time, and starting on live files. I'm noticing though, that when two shows are being recorded at once, it only processes the newest file alphabetically, and only one file at a time. Is there any way to have this kick off more than one thread to handle two jobs at once, or is that asking for trouble? I see that when a show ends at 9:00PM, the EDL file is closed at 9:00PM also. My Task Manager shows my 4 CPU cores running around 25% overall with 2 HD Homerun recordings, processing a video with Comskip and playing to an extender. But when it picks up the second show that finished at 9:00PM, it finishes the EDL file at 9:38PM. So, it can crank through it faster than real time, which is nice, and still not taxing on the system, but now all my shows for the night are queue up and processes one at a time. This might be a good idea to keep the system from going nuts, but if there was a way to try it, I'd love to give it a shot. So far, it works PERFECTLY for me, but when LOST isn't done processing the commercials cause my roomate recorded American Idol and some other crap, I get a little annoyed... it is my sage setup after all. |

Comskip Monitor is not cleaning up at all. When I delete a show all the .log and .edl and .txt files are left behind. What can I do to troubleshoot this to figure out what is wrong?

did you check that the csm.properties file in the install folder contains:
Code:
cleanup.file.extensions=.txt,.log,.edl

That was it. I changed the user (which I thought I did already...anyhow...)and the cleanup is working. Yeah! Thanks.

also...
if you ever use the .bat file to redo the settings (i usually just edit the csm directly) it resets the user. I always use the Services window to restart the comskip service after a change though.

There are some posts in this thread which suggest Comskip Monitor can spawn multiple comskip.exe threads, and several asking how to to get it to do this.
Can somebody confirm whether this is indeed possible, and if so tell us how to do it? |

I think I have gotten everything up and running but comkip service can't start I get an "error 1067" I see there seems to be a problem with the java version from some posts. I have version 6 update5. anyone have a solution?

now that I have a quad-core server, it would be nice to have more than one instance running sometimes.

Just weighing in to say thanks to Steep. After installing the Java SDK startup.bat worked perfectly and comskip started working immediately. Much <3 and keep up the good work.

Got everything installed. I was messing around with the other comskip before program before and I deleted the files out of the sage folder(I am running sagemc).
So now I have comskip monitor running as a service and I would like to change some stuff around, do I have to uninstall and re-install in order for the webserver to work? I am unable to access the webserver after I hit finish. I also get this error on startup A directory specified in csm.properties "file.directories" attribute is invalid. Please update csm.properties with valid video file directories, and then uninstall and reinstall ComskipMonitor. |

It's been a while since I set it up but I'm pretty sure you can just re-run the webserver by re-opening the file (or re-running the setup).
The error could be related to one of the settings you put in during the setup. Check to make sure the paths are correct.

Sorry to be totally clueless but I have a few newbie questins relating to Comskip and Sage:
CSM was developed two years ago but since this thread is still active I assume that it is still being maintained and is going strong? CSM, I guess it is actually comskip, creates four files - .logo.txt, .txt, .log and .edl. What are each of these files for? I assume these will all be cleaned up - how does comskip know that it has already processed a file. And when are these files cleaned up - immediately or is there a waiting period for some other apps? I believe that to take advanatage and skip commercials in Sage that I have to download the Comskip playback import - is that correct or is this now part of the default UI? Does this work with both the default UI and SageMC? Will the Sage Convert function use any of the files created by Comskip to skip commercials when it is re-encoding? I am using the AutoCompress addin. It has a setting "Wait for Comskip" - what does this do? |

Does comskip monitor work with the latest comskip or just the packaged older one?

Comskip Monitor does work with the latest Comskip. When you run the setup.bat file select the location of the latest comskip.exe and comskip.ini. This is under "Configure Comskip Location" and "Configure Comskip Config Location".

Hmmm, I put the latest comskip 79_144 in its own folder in comskip monitor and tried to point to the exe and ini in the setup and comskip monitor keeps saying they are invalid comskip files??
