Media Center Conversion Quality
What does this setting do? I actually don't want any conversion happening if the source is MPEG2. Is this just for non-compliant video? or for AC3 audio? What does this setting do to my CPU?

Do you mean "Media Extender Conversion Quality"? That is on p. 178 of the v6.0 manual & only affects video that has to be transcoded in order to play on the extender.
