Help: Odd/Slow Menu using VMR9

My System..

AMD 2200+
768Mb RAM
Nvidia 6600 256Mb using Purevideo decoder
HDA Mystique
resolution 1024x32bpp in clone mode..
Girder for my MCE remote
Latest Nvidia drivers

SageTV Settings
Mode: VMR9
Decoder: Nvidia PureVideo (no post processor)
3d Accel: On
FSE: Off (FSE doesn't work, produces a black screen with sound)..

the problem i'm having is when i use the VMR9 option, the menus are very slow to react to my remote control..

i end up getting the dreaded SageTV spinning logo going crazy and then it just stops responding to the remote all together or will execute all the button pushes...

checking the cpu usage, doesn't really go any higher than 50-60%..

even using the mouse will produce the spinning logo (i've come to hate that thing)..

with the way the menus work it is literally unusable in that state.

in overlay mode everything works spectacular, very responsive...

are the menu's really that cpu intensive or are they just broke at the moment? (i'm just a little suprised that its hte menu's issue and not the video playback)..

the video plays just fine, no stuttering of anykind in the video playback, its just the blasted menus that are driving me up the wall.

is there anyway to fix this? is ther esome sort of manual tweak i can make to the menus to fix whatever issue its having?

Or is there a way to get overlay to work on a clone monitor setup? (overlay only works on the primary display)..
