sigh...
I have sent the email in also, and have not heard a peep. I have multiple Hauppauge WinTV PVR-USB2 boxes that I use with my Windows SageTV box. I can pull one for Mac beta testing. So...I havn't heard anything and I'm ready to test server with the pvr-usb2 box...maybe they have enough people.

Having run beta tests from the other end of the desk I guess I'm used to the quick reply and early engagement model. Getting NDR's out and signed and back takes time - gotta get the process rolling. Plus it's always nice to know someone got your email and it didn't go into a black hole somewhere - a simple "we got your email, keep your shorts on" note would be a nice touch.

just my two cents...

They probably got your email, so keep your shorts on.

Does that help?

I don't suppose somebody at Sage is willing to confirm a Mac version of Sage plus iTV is the HD extender solution we have been salivating over?

I thought I read somewhere that iTV will not do HD at this time but will do DVD quality. I think it was a quote from Disney's CEO... http://www.ipodobserver.com/story/28489

Exactly.
I checked the OS version and unfortunately I have 10.3.9 so my email will probably be sent to the bit bucket in the sky

Will these be version 5 or 6? I'm assuming the server will be v6 since that one article said it'd be out next year.

Doh! I couldda swore they only had the WinTV-USB (not 2) as a software encoder.

I really can't get my head around this there are no INTEL mac drivers for the wintv-pvr-usb2. The eskape web page had not been updated since 2002, so in what way are sage initially going to be supporting a device that has no support?

I'm going to stick with the (cumbersome) sage/pvr-usb2 through bootcamp.

Question

hi there,
its great to hear that sagetv will run on osx in near future.

i have a mac mini ppc 1.42 with 1gig, so i would use this as my server.

has my mac mini the 'power' to work with my plextor convertx?
will the plextor convertx be supported with one of the first releases?
is there a releasedate for sagetv-osx?

thx,
Madhead

Has OS/X server support been announced? I thought so far it was client/placeshifter support only.

I was thinking of either a Shuttle x200 or Mac Mini as a server+client to drive a 720P projector. I'm waiting to see if Apple releases some update of the Mini that has more storage.

For anyone interested, here's my comparison table:

Code:
            x200h $1400 x200m $1400 Mac Mini $1100
----------- ------------------- -------------------- -----------------
CPU 1.66 GHz Core 2 Duo 1.66 GHz Core 2 Duo 1.83 GHz Core Duo
Disk 400GB 3 GB/s SATA II 400GB 3 GB/s SATA II 160GB SATA I
DVD 8X DVD-RW 8X DVD-RW 8X DVD-RW
Card Reader 4-in-1 4-in-1 No
Chipset Intel 945GM+ICH7M Intel 945GM+ICH7M ?
Video ATI Mobility Radeon Intel GMA 950 Intel GMA 950
            X1400 MXM
IR Yes Yes Yes (but)
Network 1 Gbps * 100 Mbps 1 Gbps
S/PDIF Yes Yes Yes
Wireless No Yes Yes

Noise 24 dB 24 dB ?
DVI/HDMI DVI DVI DVI
PS/2 Yes Yes No (but)
USB 4 4 2
Tuner None * Analog NTSC None
Notes: I figured 1 GB would be enough for Sage and video memory used by the Intel GMA 950. I'm planning on 1 or 2 VBox USB 3560 HDTV tuners, plus possibly an external hard drive (definitely for the Mac Mini option). There's a thread on AVS forum (linked from the Mac Mini thread here) that says that integrated graphics can handle pushing 720P.

Here's hopping for HDHomeRun support

I'm really looking forward to SageTV on Mac, but consider this a desperate plea for HD Homerun support. I was in the midsts of upgrading an old PC to use as a Sage Server, but the processor upgrade did not go as planned, and I some how fried the whole machine

Now that I need a new machine, and I'll be using it for general computing I decided that I really want it to be a Mac. The perfect solution would be SageTV using my HD Homerun, so here's hoping that the Sage Mac version supports that awesome encoding device. The next options are considerably dicier, running either Sage or Myth through Parallels. Meanwhile my girlfriend is really sick of our no TV situation, and I fear that a b&w Zenith with rabbit ears will be in our future.

Oh man, I just found my way to this thread... I assume it's too late to get in on the Beta Testing, but I own a MacBook Pro and a Hauppage USB tv tuner as well as the Plextor TV-100U (which came with SageTV Lite but for Windows). Alas, I have since switched from Windows...

Too late for the beta, but you can still use the mac placeshifter.
