Problems with tuning on 2nd Direct receiver

I have a 2nd directv receiver will not tune properly to record a favorite. It will tune fine manually until the first favorite and then I loose all control of it.

Both receivers are serial controled. The one that works all the time is on COM1 and the other is on COM4 through a Targus USB>Serial converter. It tunes fine manually while watching but when left alone to auto tune a favorite it just stops working. Sage will say it's recording on the right channel, but I'll loose all control over the receiver. The first receiver will still tune fine.

The only way to get control back is to stop SageTV and SageTVService from task manager and go back in. Then I can tune fine on both receivers again.

Sage 5.0.4.92
2 x DirectTV D10 -100 receivers
Hauppauge 500 tuner card

Thanks!

Does anyone have any input on this?

I am recording incorrect channels for each favorite that is picked up by the 2nd tuner. I can tune manually just fine until a favorite hits and then I loose complete control over that tuner until I shut down and restart all of Sage.

I have a hard time believing that this is due to the targus usb>serial adapter since it works 100% when manually tuning. I tried to post this in the software support forum and it was moved here.

Someone please help before the wife requests that I depart with the sage setup???

Thanks

Does Sage tune this reciever in question at all? I had a problem a while back where the default dll that ships with Sage stopped working at all, and had to go back to an older or newer dll. You should also enable debug logging and see what the log file says as sage is trying to tune the channel.

Unfortunately that's why I'm completely confused. It tunes both receivers just fine until it has to auto tune for a favorite.

Then Sage will say it changed channels and yet the direct receiver stays on the channel it was on previously. The only way to fix it is to kill both sage services in task manager and restart sage. So we have a batch of shows now that are missing the first few minutes while I putz with shutting down and restarting. Then I have to manually start recording multiple shows again.

You might want to try a different dll. Couldn't hurt, if you haven't already tried this. There is a newer one in the beta section, someone also posted a link to an older dll in the same thread.

Well, I upgraded to v6 and the problem is actually worse. I'm not sure what's up at this point.

I am not convinced it's Sage though. Both receivers are now constantly turning back on the banner and IR controls even though I disable them with DirectvControl. It's like they are resetting their own settings on a regular basis now. Could this be something Direct is causing with a signal?

Lets get in touch with Patersontech and see what they say....

Edit: I think I read the posts by someone on Patersontech on another forum. Searched a lot here, but did not find anything.
Have sent a support request email to them- will keep you guys posted.

I'm also trying this-
Some older dlls are available- lets give that a try

I'm all for working to find a resolution.

The wife acceptance factor is starting to become a problem more so now than ever and I've had sage running for the last year

The last firmware update DirecTV sent down for the D11-500 changed the bacud rate from 15200 to 9600.

If you are using the PattersonTech adapter you will need to run the fix to correct the baud rate.

Search my name and for the thread I posted on STB channel changing for more information.

Hope this helps.
