same channel - various source

why can't the same channel from two source co-exist on the EPG?

For example, in Sacramento, CBS HD is KOVRDT

I have KOVRDT off the air as 25.1
I have KOVRDT over cable Firewire as 913

The damn EPG won't list both - it will only list the 913 - KOVRDT. If I remove 913, it'll list the 25.1

I have to go and trick it by choosing San Francisco and remaping SF CBSHD to 25.1 - unfortunately, Sac CBS progress 1 hour early so the entire timing is off.

Please support 1 callsign, multiple source.

I'm pretty sure it does, the EPG just consolidates the listing into one. You normally don't need to see that the channel is listed twice in the EPG. Do you need to see KOVRDT listed twice?

Both sources should be available. To confirm it, schedule recordings that would conflict if there was only one source.

hmmm.. good point... i'd like to see it twice so I can tell the program to record off the firewire instead of the OTA (less prone to reception issues.)

but thanks for mentioning that...

I haven't got you exact setup, so I can't test it, but if you have a favorite setup for the program, you should be able to limit it to ch. 913, so it would have to record it off the firewire. And in normal viewing, if you want the firewire prefered over OTA, then you can set the encoder_merit on the firewire "encoder" to be higher than the OTA encoder.

you are right in that it does recognize the fact that there are two sources for the same channel - however, it thinks both are the same channel number, 913. It doesn't recognize the other channel number.

Awhile back I had a similar problem were I had an analog channel with the same call letters as an HD channel. It was frustrating in that SageTV consolidated the channels, but sometimes it would record the analog channel and sometimes the HD channel. It was a local CBS channels coming through my cable. The local CBS station finally assigned a different call sign to their analog channel and now all is well.
