2 STB's - 1 Server - 1 Client
Looking for the best way to do this guys....
I have a PVR setup running Sage 4 now with a PVR 150 and IR Blaster controlling my STB. I want to add another card and another STB so I can add a client machine. I already bought a client liscense so I'm good to go there - I'm using it on my laptop now. I was thinking of buying an MVP from PC Alchemy, can I use the client license with that or no? My biggest question is, whats the best way to controll both of the STB's, I have heard that you can't use 2 PVR-150's with the included IR Blasters. So is there a product out there that will allow me to easily control these? TIA |

The MVP requires a different sort of license from the SageTVClient license.
Just to be clear, you don't need a second tuner to run SageTVClient or the MVP. You'd need another tuner only if you want to watch or record two different programs at once, regardless of how many clients you have. I'm not familiar with the Hauppauge IR blaster, but the USB-UIRT can control more than one STB at a time.

Ok so that I understand this correctly, license's aside because that's fine...
I want to record multiple channels or record one and watch live etc - hence the other pvr 150 Card. Can I use the 2 IR Blasters that come with the PVR-150's or no? I have read about this beast over at http://www.irblaster.info/ I think this would work. There is a serial connector that splits 2 blasters. Does WinLIRC work with sage? Just so I can clarify this as well: I would use the IR Recevier that came with the PVR-150 to recieve the Hauppauge remote control commands. This plugs directly into the PVR 150 I have working now, I would just disable the blaster portion in IR.exe. I would use the dual IR Blaster with Winlirc to 'blast' my STB's - hook it up to my serial port and then connect it to my STB's - have to find a way to have Sage 'talk' through it via winlirc I guess? |
