Please help! Can't Get HDTV Wonder to Work
Hello all,
I can't get SageTv to work with the ATI HDTV Wonder. I'm hoping this has a simple resolution, but for the life of me I can't figure it out. SageTv Recongizes the card as: ATI DTV Wonder Analog AV Capture I then select Digital TV Tuner (as directed in another post) And then all I see is "Loading Preview Please Wait..." I tried WatchHDTV as well with no luck. I've installed the ATI drivers, decoder and encoder directly from the website and nothing else. I've also tried changing PCI slots to no avail. My Specs: AMD 2500+ Radeon 9500: Omega Drivers Windows XP SP2 DirectX 9.0C Last edited by cmai97; 09-16-2006 at 07:19 PM. |

I used the ATI DTV program to test my setup before I tried using it in SageTV. The DTV application has a signal strength monitor that helps get the best placement for your antenna. It can be found under Setup -> channel List. At the bottom of the dialog is a button to bring up the signal strength tester. Strangely, I've never gotten a working HDTV picture in the DTV program, but the antenna placement has served me well with the recordings I made in SageTV.

I've heard bad things about the ATI MMC. Is it alright to install?
So you think it's a lack of signal issue? WatchHDTV also seems to have a signal monitor but it always remains a blank box. |

I'm not sure why you are having problems, but using another application can help you determine if you are have a problem with SageTV or with the card in general.
I have all the ati programs installed and they haven't caused any problems that I know of. Of course it wouldn't hurt to save a system restore point before installing anything. |

I had this exact same problem and it all came down to signal strength. I moved the antenna to another room and was finally able to find signal and get it to work. It was a little frustrating because my Sony HDTV picked up OTA HD signals in the first room just fine, but the HDTV Wonder couldn't.
