video freezes
I just recently installed the pvr-usb2 and having issues with recording.
When I use SageTV, Sage Recorder or WinTV to record, it will record for about a minute and then it stops like I paused it. It also stops saving to the hard drive. The software still seems to be in a stable state so it lets me stop the recording. I have found that the "BEST" setting will work and not do this, however, I have tried DVD Extra Long Play, GREAT and FAIR which are less CPU intensive and they cause the picture to pause. I'm using the decoder and encoder that came with the tuner. I have downloaded the latest drivers. My CPU usage is around 55% and I have about 60 Gig of space on my hard drive. What I think is really weird is that WinTV will work great when I pause and time-shift using DVD Extra Long Play but then if I go back to live TV and hit the record button, the picture freezes after recording for about a minute. Does anyone have any ideas? |

I'm not sure what driver that is. Is this the name of the driver or the version? I have the latest drivers that are on the support site. Below is a copy of my drivers that are displayed in the About screen of the WinTV application.

I installed PowerDVD version 5 and selected it for the decoder. This fixed the problem for the Sage programs. I probably still have this problem with WinTV since I can't see a way of changing the decoder for it.

Well, I thought I fixed it by switching the decoder to PowerDVD but that wasn't it.
The problem was my USB sound card. I have my tuner and sound card plugged into my USB 2.0 add-in PCI card. When I switch my sound card default to the sound card that is built into my motherboard, the problem goes away. |
