Ready to purchase....how do I...

I have 5.04 server trial and placeshifter, and will likely get the combo.
I believe the trial is set to expire in one or two days.

What is the process to pay, install, uninstall...etc., just so I leave myself enough time so as not to have any down time.

thanks...

After you purchase, you would receive your license(s) via email. If you have a spam blocking system & don't receive your emails right away, check recent spam, since that happens to quite a few people.

Exit SageTV completely.

To register the Placeshifter, use the entry for that in Windows' Start -> All Programs -> SageTV. ** Do this while SageTV is not running. **

To register SageTV, simply restart SageTV & it should ask you for the license.

Basically, you pay, in a couple minutes you get an email with the keys, and then you install the keys (restart Sage and select Enter Key).

For the placeshifter you go into the start menu and run the Register Extender Key, or whatever it's called

No uninstalling/reinstalling.

Its painless...

Well... except for the fact that the keys are less of keys and more of small consitutions... Takes me about 10 minutes to type one of them in they are so long.

Why not just use copy & paste? 3 seconds and you're done...

I just saved all my keys into a text file, which I have backed up on several PC's & drives, and copy & paste if I need to re-reg. MUCH faster, and no chance to mis-type.

I recently purchased SageTV, and key registration was a snap (using copy & paste.) It's just like enabling most other kinds of software. And the excellent thing is that it removes the startup dialog box that requires a keypress to continue. Makes rebooting clean.

That would make it too easy!!! We need something to complain about, the registration process can't be that easy.

What annoys me is when a software company won't allow you to paste keys. I've had a few that won't accept pasting and make you type the whole thing out.

No registration link

I went to the SageTV folder under All Programs and it only shows PlaceShifter. There is no link for registering it. What am I missing?

You need to register your extender license at the server.

Start->All Programs->Sage TV->Register Sage TV Media Extender or Placeshifter license

See the instructions on p. 257 of the v5.0 manual -- Placeshifter licenses are registered on your server, not on the Placeshifter client.

I'm pretty sure you do all registering on the server. Including registering your placeshifter client.
