Actisys a Blaster?
I don't have my HTPC up and running yet but here is a quick and easy questions. Does the Actisys work as a blaster? What I mean will it send a signal strong enough that it will bounce off back wall and control the Dish reciever. If it dosen't operate like this has anyone extended the wire. For me it will be a little short if I have to line it up to the dish reciever sensor eye.
Thanks DRB

I bounce it off the glass door on the front of my entertainment center, but a wall across the room is probably too far away.

I have check and it does indeed bounce off the back wall, about 25 feet. I doubt it is bouncing off your glass, I could be wrong but if that was the case then the IR signal would never pass thru the glass on any system. Unless part of the signal passes thru the glass and part of it is reflextive off the glass.

You can extend the cable with a straight through 9 pin serial cable. The one I bought is labeled "EGA/CGA/Serial Mouse" extension cable. I hung the actual transmitter from the shelf above my cable box (secured with a bit of tape), so it is at an almost 90 degree angle from above, but it works great since it is so close to it.

I know its bouncing off the glass because when the glass isn't there (i.e., the glass door is open), the transmissions don't work.
