Free trial ends early

So...I installed both 5.04 (on the server) and placeshifter (on a laptop) as trials...

5.04 still running on the server, but I am being told, after 8 days,
that placeshifter's trial has ended.

Is this normal? I was under the assumption their trial periods were the same.

I haven't had time to decide if p.shifter is worth the expense, as I hardly had time to use it

thanks

Last I heard, the trial period for the placeshifter and Media Extender was 7 days. Sage's trial period is 14, but only for SageTv and SageTVClient.

I also remember Andy mentioning that the trial period is supposed to be extended to 14 days in a later build, maybe 5.1?

edit: Yup, this was posted after 5.0.4 came out.

Also, the 15 day trial has been resolved for a future update.
Your only solution if you want to test some more is to blow out the computer and do a complete install of the OS and Sage.

Thanks. I didn't realize their software was that invasive.

Blowing out the OS and doing a rre-install is WAY beyond reasonable.

cest la vie.

I don't get where it's invasive. Most software isn't going to simply allow you to uninstall and then reinstall it to get around a limited trial period. I'm sure there is a less invasive way to reset the trial, but if it were too simple what would be the point in having a trial period they might as well give the software away.

I guess what I meant was....

until the "update of 5.1" it would be nice if customer service could extent this to match the install of the server software.

With my cable company offering a DVR/dual tuner/HD box for only $6 a month more than I pay for my regular cable tuner, the competition is tough.

Luckily for sage I am not a fan of big monopolies.
