anyway to get tv guide for fta satellite?

I will be hooking up my regular cable service and my FTA satellite service. Choosing the guide for my cable service is easy but how to I get a program guide for the satellite service?

Unless you have a DVB-S card that can download the epg info right from the birds above, your SOL. there just too many FTA channels on many different types of satellites to have Zapit/Sage to get epg data from.


I used a DVB-S with MyThreatre plugin to get it to work with sage & with a 36inch on a rotor aswell as a BUD dish for those many c-band movies,sports and normal, live feed channels.

do the dvb-s tuner cards have any indication of what channels they would have guide information for ?

There are actually two encoded channels on my satellite which I recently pay subscription for so have the card, and would really really love to be able to hook it into my HTPC so I can record off of it using a program guide.

Would it be possible to build your own EPG with some sort of XMLTV setup.? Manually pick and choose the channels you have from different lineups, and set something up that fits your system.

Can you explain how this XMLTV works for me? I really don't understand what it is or how it might get the channel lineup for my satellite..

BTW this is the satellite I am tuning into
