Format of recorded TV shows?

What format does Sagetv save the shows in? I tried Windows media center and it was a propriatary format and was a pain to burn onto a dvd if I wanted to.

Thanks

That depends entirely on what tuner you are using and/or what recording quality format you have chosen. Analog tuners use the recording quality you chose (usually mpeg2, but might be mpeg1 or even divx if the tuner supports that), while digital tuners just store the stream received.

Opus always has a better answer than me...or at least more "technically" correct.

I am using a hap PVR 150. I DL'ed the trial last night, and am seriously thinking of pulling the trigger.

I especially like the idea of the Client so I can watch TV in the garage!

Thumbs up

The 150, like the other Hauppauge PVR cards, writes standard MPEG 2 files by default. You can also make it do MPEG 1 if you choose the VCD preset (or make your own preset with MPEG 1 video). If you're looking to burn to DVD, the standard "DVD ... Play" and "Good"/"Great"/"Best" presets all result in DVD-compliant files that you can burn with little difficulty. The DVD presets are setup so that you get files that fit a 4.7GB disc nicely.
