How to get the cyberlink remote to work?

Anyone have any bright ideas as to how I can get this cyberlink remote that came with the power color 550. MS list it as an HID device but I have no idea how to set it up to get at least some basic functionality out of it. The best I can do is change the volume and use the arrow keys on it. I would at least like to be able to use the play pause etc buttons. I am running this on XP. Any help would be great. Thanks!

When they say it acts as an HID device, perhaps that means it would interact with Windows similarly to the MCE remote? If so, try selecting the MCE Remote option in Detailed Setup -> Commands -> Remote Config.

If that doesn't do it, you might have to see if it is configurable via the mfr's software or else see about using HIP or Girder with it.

Yeah I have been messing around with using it as an MCE remote in sage but alot of the things just don't register. Like when using the option to see what cmd the button does alot of the things just bypass it and make the sage go to one of the menus. Going to play around with HIP and girder next. Thanks.

I don't know anything about your remote, but that's how the native support works with the MCE remote. For example if I press guide it takes me to the guide instead of showing the command it's linked to.

Only a couple of buttons can be reassigned, the rest are fixed and can't be changed so I guess it doesn't really matter what it's linked to.

Yeah its strange like when I Press the down channel button it will leave live tv and go to the standby button on the menu.

What would be the best bang for my buck if I was to get another controller. I don't really want to spend more then $40 or so. Maybe the Remote Wonder or something along that line? Thanks.

I have this remote. By default, alot of functions work with SageTV out-of-the-box. However, the remote is useful only when SageTV has focus. If you want a remote than can control SageTV while you are doing other things with your PC, this remote is not for you.

Certain buttons are hardcoded to associate with keyboard keys. Examples of these buttons include the arrow buttons, the numerical buttons, back button and some other ones.

Since these buttons are hardcoded, it's not possible to use Girder or HIP to use SendMessage commands to SageTV (well, you can but you will not be able to override the keyboard presses to the general OS). However, you may use Girder to program certain keys (i.e., the Music button).
