Divx plays in background window
I am having problems playing divx videos.
When I play them on my 'server/htpc', they work fine. But when I play them on my client, they don't work properly. Either they play, but in a maximized window (I can see the border all around the window at the edge of the TV screen), and I cannot see the OSD or adjust aspect ratio etc, or they play 'behind' the Sage window. When they play in the background, the sound is fine, I can FF, etc fine, I can see the OSD, but the screen is blank. If I then switch to window mode from fullscreen, the Sage window shrinks to (for example) 1/4 of the size, and sits centre-screen in front of a maximized window (see above) that is mostly black but has the video playing in (in this example) the top left quarter of the maxed window. I can play them fine in Windows Media Player, etc on the client. What should I be looking at to fix this? Codecs? VMR vs Overlay? FSE? 3D accel? Incense, chanting, and sacrificial offerings? TIA

Are you using a separate program to play the DivX file on your htpc? It sounds like you are or at least your htpc is trying to play the with a separate program. I use Nero Showtime to play all my mp4 avc files. You need to go into the media player on your htpc (using the mouse) and minimize Sage and then right click on the window and look for an option the player to Always Show On Top or something like that so that it is not behind the Sage window.

I'm not (intentionally) using any additional programs to play the divxs. How do I check that? Divx should play in Sage. They do on the HTPC, but not on the client.

Okay, I just checked and found to my surprise that I have different versions of Divx on the two PCs. Once I changed the client to version 6.2 of divx, it seems to work properly now...
