Just Purchased MVP - Video Problem
Preamble:
Finally got hold of my MVP from the Sage Store to the UK. Had some problems on the way - late shipping, and a customs charge that brought the total to about $150US. On top of that it comes with a US plug. Having read this forum a bit since I received the unit I would suggest that UK buyers make a purchase over here for the hardware. Teach me to order on a whim Anyway - my issue: I have setup the unit as described on the notes that come with it and everything has gone really well up until I try and watch Live TV/Recorded Video etc. All I get is a black screen. I have stopped the server, deleted the clients directory and entered my license as suggested in some other threads. Still no luck. The odd thing is I can go through all the menus just peachy just no signal. It doesn't say no signal - I just get a black screen. Obviously I'm starting from a PAL signal, but from what I have read this shouldn't be an issue anymore... I should also note I use a PC client which is working flawlessly. Any help is greatly appreciated. System details are: Sage Server: 5.0.4.92 Java: 1.4.2_11 using SageTV3-7.xml Unit says rev 2.05 |

Solution: contrary to the notes that come from Sage with the device if you use anything other than NTSC then you must install the supplied software. I used a crossover cable onto my laptop and it installed and connected just fine.
Go to settings in that software and then configuration and change the encoding option from NTSC to PAL. IMPORTANT: make sure you hit OK when saving - cancel is the default option. You will get a message to say saving settings... Then just reconnect to the existing network and unplug the MVP for a moment and setup as per the supplied sheet. Then you have PAL video |

Hi MadAxeMan
I have the exactly same problem as you... I received the MediaMVP with the US power supply and got an extra bill from customs, bad bad... Well I have received a power supply from Hauppauge in Sweden to be used here ind Denmark, so that's great. But as you described a don't get video displayed on the TV, just sound and the time bar. The software you talks about, is it the Hauppauge MediaMVP software CD? I am looking forward to hear from you. Best Regards Tim Nielsen Last edited by eclipse4ever; 09-22-2006 at 01:27 AM. |

I think what the previous poster was saying, is you need to install the Hauppauge MVP software, and set the video setting to PAL as opposed to the presumed default of NTSC.

Yes, I found out after a couple of tries.
I only had to change the MediaMVP to look at my computer instead of the SageTV server, then I could change these settings, nice... Now it works just fine |
