pvr-500 birth pangs - video out recommendations?

I just received the PVR-500 and I'm finding something that I hadn't anticipated: the card lacks a video out. Before I bought, I had looked at the card and had assumed that the FM in was a coaxial out. ... So now I need a card to send video from the PC to my TV. Does anyone have any recommendations for something basic that will work with SageTV and won't cause a conflict with the PVR-500?

My apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere or is available in the FAQs. I swear I searched!

Are you sure your regular graphics card doesn't have a TV-out jack of some sort? Most cards these days have it. Even my wife's laptop's chintzy on-board Intel graphics has S-Video out.

If yours doesn't, then a simple graphics card upgrade should take care of it.

Do you have PCI-E/PCI/AGP on your motherboard? Judging by the fact you are only using a PVR500, I am assuming you will only be doing SDTV correct?

Correct, I will only be doing SDTV. My current graphics card is a very basic integrated Intel Extreme Graphics 2, which is due to the nature of the computer I'll be using, a barebones box that I bought to dedicate to being a DVR.

I'm sorry if my question is too basic. I had felt confident that I would be able to jump right into SageTV because I had built a computer before ... but that was eight years ago and I'm finding that my knowledge base is outdated or nonexistent. Thanks for your help.

If you're only going to be outputting to a SDTV the best quality playback will come from picking up a Sage Media Extender and using the computer as a server. The other option is to get a video card with S-video (or better if your TV has a better connection method available).

BTW welcome to the world of HTPCs. You'll find nothing is simple when it comes to PVRs.
