Left-over files

I'm new to SageTV (1 week+), so bear with me on this one. Though I am just watching TV, I see that files get written to the folder I specified and left there, even if I exit SageTV altogether. I understand that writing these files while watching TV is required in order to support time-shifting, but why are the files left there when they are no longer needed, e.g., when SageTV terminates? And no, the files aren't "cleaned up" when SageTV re-starts. This is very annoying, because that drive/directory are the same ones where my scheduled recordings go, and I don't want it to be full when I need 5-10GB to record a program.

They will be cleaned when when the space is needed. That is a setting you set in the detaled setup. I've set mine to leave 5GB available. When it gets near that limit it will start deleting those files.

Its good that it does this in this fashion as it theoretically prevents excessive fragmentation of your harddrive. I am sure I read somewhere that after the space is filled, it looks for a deletable file that matches the length of the show you are recording.

There is a setting to have it clean these files on exit of SageTV.

EDIT: this is in the SageTV.properties file that can be edited in notepad.

seeker/delete_partials_on_exit=true

I use this but it does not matter much since I never exit SageTV.

Same here. My SageTV has been up for 45 days without a restart/reboot. It just keeps on going.
