Sage splitting recordings when watching live

If I watch a show that is being recorded, Sage starts a new file each time I do a skip forward/backward. This is a recent development, it didn't do this before. I have no idea what started this behaviour, not aware of any changes I made. Maybe Java automatically updated. What is the preferred version of Java at the moment?

I'm using a server with a few clients btw, all latest official versions.

I'm also having some other little problems, think they started at about the same time. One is that Sage records almost every program from one certain channel only(I have intelligent recording disabled). These recordings are scheduled about 24 hours before they are aired and are manual recordings, not favorites. The other is in the option 'Ask to delete recording at end of playback?', which I have set to 'manuals only'. Nevertheless, Sage keeps asking me after almost every recording.

I would appreciate any ideas.
