New Avermedia cards supported in Sage???
Anyone (Sage staff?) know if there are any plans to support the AVerMedia AverTV Purity 3D MCE 250 (aka M187) which is a single tuner based on the NEC uPD61153 chipset that has some very nice features, and/or the Avermedia AVerTV Purity 3D MCE 500 which is the same as the Hauppauge PVR-500 (dual tuner) but with the ViXS chipset that is in the Nvidia DualTV?
The AVerTV Purity 3D MCE 500 can be had for as little as $116 which is a great price for this card. Sage? -PGPfan (edit: It appears that the single tuner MCE 250 is supported by Sage currently as evidenced by the testing done at HTPCNews, at least that is what their screencaptures imply)

And if the AVer TV MCE 500 is using the ViXS chip that nVidia uses that should probably work also. I hope they can produce drivers that can support 2 boards at the same time. nVidia hasn't made any headway yet.

Anybody find out if those dual tuner cards work? They come with the daughter board for the extra svid/audio inputs, and at a price-point alot less than the Nvidia or Hauppauge cards, if they work I'll likely order a few

I think the best way to get 2 ViXS based 'dual tuner' cards working in Sage is to use 1 each of the Nvidia DualTV and VistaView Saber 2020. That will get you 4 tuners in 2 slots (1-PCI, and 1-PCIe) without having to wait until hell freezes over for the Nvidia drivers that Jeff mentioned. Since the VistaView is on PCIe, it can peacefully co-exist with any PCI cards just fine.

If the original poster is still interested, I just downloaded the trail version of SageTV and so far my AverTV Purity 3D MCE 250 works fine. I added the FM radio plugin and it also works.
I didn't see this card listed in the supported cards section so I was surprised how easy the setup was, the program recognized it without any tweaking. I have tried a couple other PVR programs and never could get the FM to work but this one worked right from the start. I read the review at HTPCnews and decided to give the 250 a try (see link below). I was a bit nervous about getting a new card that no one seems to support yet, but the price was right and review seemed to think it was pretty good card. http://www.htpcnews.com/index.php?op...=264&Itemid=26 So far I'm happy with it but I'm new to all of this and I don't have any other card for comparison so I can't tell you if it's a good card or not. I just downloaded the trial also and had poor results with the dual ATI eHome cards I had original installed so I stopped at the local computer store and the only combo card they had was the AverMedia AVerTV Purity-3D MCE 500. My results of the card is just a scrambled picture. I am going to do some troubleshooting research on this but if anyone has any ideas please advise.

It looks like I connected the cable wrong. I am so use to the bottom RF connector being for cable and the top for FM that I did not even look. I am still not getting sound and getting a bit of a snowy picture so off to more troubleshooting.

i'm interested in the 500 card too.
I currently have a single hauppauge 250mce, and it has good quality except I cant get over how blurry it appears (even with the sharpness turned up). Does the new encoder help out compared to the 250mce? Last edited by hechacker1; 11-21-2006 at 06:56 PM. |

the tool doesnt work with my card or its drivers. Nothing appears to change in SageTV when I change the values.
I think the tool is more suited to the 150 series. |

Did anyone get the Avermedia Purity3D 500 card working with Sage? I'm interested in possibly buying one of these, but need to know if it'll work...
Also, how often does Sage update their hardware compatibility list? I've always used Haupaugge cards in the past, but they've annoyed me recently, so I'd like to try something else... |

Yep I am using it with 5.04 (i think is what I have loaded). no problems. I believe it is also goes by M1A2, which is listed on their website.
Edit: I haven't updated my signature, but the Purity 500 is working just fine.

Help with Purity 3d MCE 150
It looks like others have gotten this card to work. I have 2 AVerMedia AverTV Purity 3D MCE 250 (aka M187) in my system. I've been using MCE2005. I would really like to use Sage and stream to my original modded xboxes within XBMC (fan runs WAY too loud in MCE extender software!).
I have tried twice to get these cards to work with a demo of 6.0 but I can't get any signal. Can anyone confirm that these cards will work - or am I beating a dead horse? Any help is greatly appreciated!! Thanks |

Never mind guys... I got it working. I disabled the MCE services first then installed. The cards work fine now! I haven't been able to get the MCE ir transmitter to change the channels though! If I can get that to work I'll make the switch.....
