Sage with USB-UIRT and Girder conflict

I have set up Sage with the built in USB-UIRT support and everything works great. I am also trying to use the same remote to control an external application (iTunes) using the dynamic menu STVi to start itunes and Girder to control it. Unfortunately when iTunes is in the foreground and has focus, Sage still responds to the commands from the remote control. Is there a way to stop Sage from responding to the remote when it doesn't have focus?

Thanks

Don't set up the USB-UIRT within Sage. If you're trying to use Girder then you need to use Girder for everything.

Are you still controlling Sage with commands mapped to your remote (via 'Setup/DetailedSetup/Commands') ? You will need to remove all mappings here and control Sage completely through Girder. And in the Girder rules for Sage you specify that they should only fire if Sage has the focus. I have the same setup working and control multiple apps including Sage with one remote.

Dirk

Edit: oops, Gerry beat me to it ...

FYI: USB-UIRT's IR blasting in SageTV AND Girder for receiving IR commands CAN peacefully coexist. That's how I have it; and, works as expected.

True-but he's also trying to use iTunes with it and THAT'S not gonna work because even with iTunes having focus Sage will respond.

Yes, it is possible to do.. aj_blair.. you need to learn how to use exceptions in girlder. I have SageTV launch Pandora.com, Windows Explorer, Internet Explorer, Firefox, IrfanView, etc... they all cooperate very well together.

See...

They are all able to cooperate perfectly together. But, you can

Good point Mike. My inexperience with Girder 4 is showing.
I hate when that happens.

True, but I personally think the other way is much cleaner. If you scrap all mappings in Sage itself and handle all Sage commands with Girder (which requires, I admit, a little bit more time to set up), you don't need any of those '... not in foreground' exceptions at all. I control several applications with Girder, and each one (including Sage) only requires one single "in foreground" precondition, that's all. Just my 2 cents ...
