Help with Network Encoder
Hi all.
Here's my situation. I have two identically built boxes (one in the den, one in the living room), both with full versions of sage and Hauppage 150s. I just got Dish network, but it's not wired in the bedroom. I believe it's possible to have the one in the bedroom talk to the one in the den so I can watch the dish in the bedroom, or at least control recordings through the bedroom. I've read through and followed the instructions I found here, but I still see my local tuner as the only input device. One thing though, on step two it says to launch SageRecorder and enable the option for "Enable Encoding Server". Since I'm using a full version, I didn't see this option anywhere. Also, if I look at that box, it shows my capture device as "Network Encoder: False". I thought this might be okay because it's local to that box. I don't see any options to enable it as a network encoder so my bedroom setup can see it. I'm probably missing something quite easy. Thanks for the help! |

To use two full versions of SageTV for network encoding, see Appendix G of the PDF manual, p. 248 for v5. The bulleted points are the ones you want.

Wow, ok, that was easy. I suppose it would help if I read the most up to date manual. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
