can't fast forward anymore

Something weird happened today. I've been running sage for abotu 4 months now and I can't fast forward now without the whole computer freezing. I made no changes since the last time i restarted it which was the day before and when i tried reinstalling sage but the problem wasn't fixed. Anyone have the same problem?
